I've been eyeing this one up too but it isn't very vegetarian friendly.0

Thanks,I will have a look.
I came across this www.thedukandiet.org0 -
I am going to give it a go, just can't get back into Slimming World at the mo, have done Atkins so I know that the attack phase will stop the cravings and suppress the appetite.£2.00 Savers Club = £34.00 So Far
+ however may £2 coins I have saved in my Terramundi since 2000.
Terramundi weighs 8lb 5oz0 -
just sounds like a rehashed LC diet but even more so restrictive, it would be very hard to stick to this long term if you had more than a tiny amount of weight to loose (30lbs+)
there also seams to be an avoidance of fats and oils which is odd as the research into low carb diets has shown that eating healthy oils and fats has a big improvement on health, and reading more on this website some of the information about lipids is just wrong given the amount of research with empirical evidence that is now out.
the unlimited foods business is the usual nonsense, you can eat as much as you like of specific foods but of course no one can eat huge amounts of any of these foods without boredom or despair kicking in
just a highly convulted way of getting you to reduce your calorie intake with out cal counting
as for the stabilisation, the reason most people put weight back on after a diet is far more simple than this "theory" they just simply go back to diet and lifestyle they had before they lost weight, they put weight on with it before the diet and DA DA DA DAAAAAA amazingly they put weight on with it after they have been on a diet

Hello,
I have been on the Dukan diet since Monday 19th April 2010. I lost 4lbs in the first 5 days on the Attack phase of the Dukan diet.
Like most people, who haven't tried the Dukan diet, I thought the the meals would be really restrictive, plain and repetitious. I was also worried about hunger and food craving. What I was surprised at was the variety of meals you can actually eat - you just have to be creative. Most surprising has be the lack of hunger and the absence of food craving - as well as the fast weightloss. The desire for fast food, chocolate, alcohol, etc. has gone. I haven't been on a diet before where I would turn down a pizza even if I could have it magically made calorie free!
Many people who criticize the Dukan diet do so by comparing it to a healthy 'normal' diet. But people who need to go on the Dukan diet don't start from that position. I'll willing to bet that the majority of people on the Dukan diet will end up eating more vegetables, and fruit, during their diet than they did in the entire adult lives.
Most of the focus has been on the Attack phase of the Dukan diet - the first 2-7 days (depending on the weightloss goals). Less about the actual weight loss phase in which the dieter begins to introduce lots of vegetables. And almost no mention of the 3rd phase in which sensible portions of carbohydrates and fruit are introduced into the diet.
The lack of hunger during the Dukan diet and the fast weight loss help the dieter change their thinking about food. Taste and variety become more important than filling up. Portion control works automatically, since your hunger is satisfied more quickly with high protein meals. What I think of as a the proper size of a meal has already changed from little over a week on the Dukan diet.
Today, I find myself not only enjoying the taste of steamed vegetables but looking forward to eating them. Flavouring food is more about the flavour of the meat with herbs and spices rather than just smothering it in mayonaise, gravy or sweet & sour sauce. I never used to drink enough water but now I'm used to drinking 2.5 to 3 litres a day. I'm anticipating the pleasure of eating fruit in a way I used to think about chocolate.
Creating Dukan diet recipies takes a bit of imagination and you can have a delicious and filling meal. If you're thinking about trying out the Dukan diet you're welcome to look at my Dukan diet dairy blog ( dukan-diet.info ) and read the comments to see what others have been eating and how they got on.0 -

So you've been on the diet for what - fewer than 10 days! Most people will lose significant amounts of weight in the first few days of most diets.
Too soon to review it properly and certainly far too soon to judge long term weight loss and the sustainability of the eating plan.
I am probably overly cynical but you sound as though you have a vested interest in this diet.0 -
Hi Amanita,
I don't have a vested interest in the Dukan diet. I don't get anything if people buy Dukan's book or not. Obviously I want people to visit my blog. If you write something you want as many people as possible to read it. I'm sure Martin wants as many people as possible to visit Moneysavingexpert. I'm not a Dukan diet expert, I'm just sharing my experience and recipe ideas and I get to hear about other people's experiences through the comments they leave. It's a good motivation to stick with the diet and make the most of it.
Now I know that I haven't been on the Dukan diet long enough to judge the long term weight loss effects. But, I can make predictions based on what I have experienced. And, through the blog, I get to hear from others who have been on the Dukan long term and share in their experiences.
However, I don't even need to experience the Dukan diet to analyse the online criticisms of it. You and I, seem to be on the same page there. You are rightly questioning how I can judge the Dukan diet by taking into account only the first few days. My criticism of some critics, is that they are judging the diet by only looking at the first few days (the attack phase) and not the diet as a whole.
I know that people often lose a lot of weight in the first few days of a diet. I have been on a couple of diets before. However, this weight loss always seems to be hard earned. Most of the time seems to be spent starving and thinking about food. The Dukan diet is the only diet I have been on where I don't feel hungry or crave fatty and sugary foods. People who have tried it, almost universally, comment that they don't feel hungry or crave food. Fundamentally, all diets but the most extreme are about portion control and replacing unhealthy foods with healthy ones.
Most of us are a bit cynical, you have to be these days, if not, there would be no need for websites like Moneysavingexpert.com

So your motivation here is just to advertise your blog on the back of the popularity of Martin's site? Will you be participating in any other threads here? Given your choice of user name I rather guess not.0 -
Now you are being overly cynical Amanita.
I didn't come on here saying Dukan diet! visit my website NOW!
People, including yourself, had questions about the Dukan diet. And I gave an answer. I also checked back to see if there were any further questions. I gave you a lengthy answer with no advertising in it at all.
This isn't a weightloss forum, I'd get very little in the way of advertising from a link on here. There would be no point - if I were only motivated in getting visitors to my site - in returning.0
