Hey everyone,
Im going to be going to my sisters birthday soon and there is a 80s theme. What id like to know is does anybody have any ideas as what I should go as which doesn't involve me spending any money as I will only be doing this just this once. I would be very greatful if anyone can come up with anything as I don't want to spend days and days thinking on it cause its the least of my worries at the moment but I still want to get it sorted and out of the way.

Hi - assuming you're male (!) stonewashed denim, mullett/big hair, button down baggy shirt with thin lurid tie, loafers or mocassins - I'd say hit the charity shop, but they're getting quite expensive now. Any 80's films you're a fan of (e.g.Rambo, Die Hard) that you could repro the look? Have fun!0

The above plan sounds good, i.e., it obeys Fancy Dress Rule Number One - "Don't Wear Stuff That Stops You Drinking, Dancing and So on!"
At one point there were a lots of silly white T-shirts saying "Frankie Says do something or other" so you could find a white T-shirt and just write on it with black marker.
Some other 80s stuff would involve more hassle with hair gel and make up and maybe dressing up a a pirate to be Adam Ant, so that's out.
OR, you could wear dark clothes and a sad doleful expression and go around saying to everyone "I could do that. Gizza job" in order to be Yosser Hughes from the T.V. series "Boys From the Black Stuff" and a comment on the current political and economic situation.
Better still - be someone from UB40 - it only requires general purpose comfy scruffy clothes and no mad hair stuff. As long as you go around singing about red red wine and a rat in the kitchen, people will guess who you are. Or might offer you the wine, so that's good anyway.0 -
OR get a cardboard box, paint in in many bright colours, wear it and be a Rubik cube - VERY big in the 80s!0

Dress as anyone from the Village People (hubby went to an 80's do as the builder - old checked shirt & denim jacket with sleeves cut out both, jeans, boots, hard hat and aviator sunglasses)0
