Divan Bed + Mattress help

Hi All

Wife and I have been trapsing around bedstore for the last 2 weekends, and we have come up with 2 beds that we like, and just wanted to pick the collective MSE minds on our choices

1 . Relyon Reactaform 1760 Platinum

2 . Sealy Syracusa - Posturepedic Platinum Pocket 2400

Any opinions gratefully recieved

Regards

Mehul

My own experience of beds is limited - merely that mattresses are more important for a good nights kip. Its down to whether you like soft or hard mattresses (I prefer harder ones). Not sure about the actual bed frame though unless its a 4 poster, or solid wood bed which would cost a lot and would last for ages.

If I were you I would stay away from big brand names (especially the Silentnight group which includes Sealy) and big chain stores if you want good quality at a low price, and shop on line from a seller who gives a good returns policy that allows you to actually unpack and sleep on the mattress. This way it is in their interest to make sure that you make the right choice the first time.

You need to consider a few things first:
    • How firm do you like your bed?
    • Are you and your partner very different in weight?
    • What is your budget?
    • Are you sensitive to heat?

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: I’ve asked Board Guides to move threads if they’ll receive a better response elsewhere(please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to another board, where it should get more replies. If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.

asking other peeps opinions about a matress/comfort is like asking for their opinion on boxer shorts and comfort.

    its all a bit pointless.

go and try it first. then use the net to find the best price.
    Get some gorm.

Not really. Someone with good knowledge about bed construction should be able to give people a pretty good idea what to look for as long as they are provided with enough information.

As I have said many times before, and many people have agreed with me after making costly mistakes, you can only get a very rough idea by trying a mattress out in a bed shop. The only way to know for sure is to actually sleep on it for a few nights.

I'm afraid I'm simply not allowed to recommend anything. However if you find something, then I can comment on plus and minus points of the mattress.
