Cleaning memory foam

Options
Hey,

I have a double bed mattress topper memory foam thingy. Thing is I just noticed how grubby it is getting, in fact i looked at it and went eugh... then covered it up with a sheet :rotfl:. I cannot turn it over as it has these special airflow ridge things in it.

As it is so big and not particularly strong I don't know if its a good idea to put it in my machine so has anyone any good cleaning tips?

TIA
S x

Whatever you do, don't put it in your washing machine.

Didn't it come with a cover?

Memory foam isn't easily cleanable, which is why I always recommend that people use a mattress protector.

Nope no cover.. didn't say anything about mattress protection or anything.. Oh well.

I guess i need to save up and buy a mattress protector now bit late but least it will not get any worse.

    Thanks Tim x

Mattress protectors aren't that expensive. You can get a good quality breathable waterproof king size one for around £30.
  • There's more in this older thread (some by Tim Deegan - are you the King of Memory Foam :D ).

I'll merge this later to keep ideas together.

Buy a good mattress protector if you manage to get it clean.
We have a memory foam mattress which came with a good quality protector cover and it really does keep it clean.
Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.
  • What about the pillows, I have two contour pillows that have seen better days. It isn't so much cleaning them as they have covers and I use pillow slips over the top of the cover but they could do with "revitilising" any ideas or am I going to have to buy new ones??

I'm in the trade (which I am quite open about). I'm surprised you didn't know.
