havent done it myself yet but wanted to wish you all the best x
  • good luck you will be fine so dont worry
  • you will both be fine - i think every court does it slightly differently, we didn't have to see a judge at all, just hang around for a couple of hours total between going into the court building at 8.30 and coming out again before 10.30 with a slip of paper with our BR numbers on them.

Take some change for a coffee, a paper or a book, and you've already got the right attitude - its the start of the rest of your life.

  • My court didn't have the option of buying a cup of coffee or even getting a drink of water. I'd been so nervous beforehand I'd skipped my wake-up shot of caffeine and was practically climbing the walls by the time I got out of there! Moral of the story... have a cuppa before you go!

Oh, and taking a book/magazine is a really good idea - gives you some sort of distraction rather than sitting there getting more stressy!

My judge was a bit scary - didn't really say anything much, just glowered at me, but I was in and out of the courtroom in no more than a couple of minutes. The clerk explained that bankruptcy cases aren't normally seen in the 'proper' courtroom but, as the judge was already in there from a previous case I'd have to go in there too... seemed a bit mean but, ah well.

Take enough money for car-parking if needed, and put several hour's worth of parking on. I was getting worried that I'd have a parking fine to look forward to too!

I guarantee as others have said you'll come from court tomorrow thinking "huh...that it?" it'll feel alittle flat BUT it will get better

Good luck & look forward to updates

Good luck tomorrow ...let us know how you get on :)
  • You will be fine....just view it as an appointment ( mine reminded me of a hospital appointment actually) . You will be asked to confirm your forms with the clerk, pay your money & take an oath (or not in my case) & then your papers are presented to the presiding judge who may or may not wish to see you.

Basically it is just a process....no one is going to bat an eyelid & to the court you are just the next `customer` if that makes sense.

Take something to read & change for coffee & be prepared for the `numb` feelings afterwards so plan a nice walk or trip out if you can...that will diffuse the nerves & help you get things back into perspective.

    Good luck & stay strong.
