Mortgage Payment Protection

Hi been a long time since I have been on site, but wanted to check if mortgage payment protection (ASU) is allowed, looking through old email today from OR which states he has had to disallow this but called it private medical insurance but it isn't, it covers in the event of my hubby being off sick, accident or redunancy. my boss seems to think that this should be allowed

Many Thanks

    Hi Queen,

I am unsure if they class it as allowable, however, I would just call them and just check they realise the policy would pay the mortgage payment per month for x amount of time not to pay for oh private medical care.

If they say it isn't allowable ask them to explain why, they are there to help you and they do have service standards to adhere to believe it or not even to us BR's :)

    Good luck.

Just to let you know I sent email to OR explaining that I think the ASU should be allowed in expenditure due to my hubby's long term illness (very politely I may add) and just received an email to say they will allow this in the IPA figures therefore this will reduce IPA by £35 per month which I have paid for the last 11 month. Hubby's IPA is £65 which means he must have a surplus of £130 which if they deduct £35 then he will only have a surplus of £95 does this mean his IPA will not be payable.

    Many Thanks

Hi Queen, so pleased they have accepted ASU. Just goes to show it's always good to ask if in doubt.

    Best wishes
