Tesco Points wasted

Does anyone have any idea how many "lost points" there are where Tesco customers have no card? I was in Tesco Wolverton and in the trolley I picked up there were two receipts alone with over £220 spent and the points wasted.
This must be making Mr T millions!

    So womble them!

Take one at a time to CS desk next time you go in and ask them to put them on your card. Just tell them you left your card at home last time you shopped.

Only put one extra one through each visit though, especially if they're high value receipts!

  • Rather than making money, tesco are merely saving it in a way.

They would rather know what you buy through the clubcard snitch-system so they can better hit you with advertising though so they lose out too!

And anyway, we all know Tesco make far too much money so what's your point?!

  • Hiya proud2bmean  and welcome to MSE, nice to see a newbie posting.

I know exactly what you mean about discarded receipts where people haven't used their clubcard. Although the trend of wombling around car parks is rather popular these days.

Discarded receipts are now being sold on ebay too - so next time you see one just do your bit for recycling.

I'm a Womble! I don't go over the top, but if I find a 'clean' high value receipt in my trolley then I take it to CS and get the points added to my card. I also keep an eye out for Till Spits which people have left in trolleys (found 1 yesterday and 1 today)

I know it seems a shame but some
    people just dont bother.

I can remember years ago Somerfield
used to do points on their stuff and
you could redeem them in Argos.
Cant remember now what it was called
Back then if you shopped right you
could really clock up the points, they
were way more generous Tesco or
    Boots at times.

We were at the till waiting inline
the lady in front who was having
    a monumental shop,it seemed
forever going through on the till.

    Finaly she had got everything
through the till.the girl asked her if
she had a points card,no came the
reply,I am not really bothered about
them.Quick as a flash and I know it
was cheeky, but if you dont ask ?
I asked her if I could have them
instead and offered her my card
she cheerfuly took it,saying it will
go a little way to making up for you
having to wait so long for my stuff
to go through.I was amazed to discover
when I put it in the machine in the shop to
see how many points were on my card,it
was nearly £25 in points.Just for once
    being cheeky paid off.

I'm sure every MSE has a Tesco Clubcard and a Boots Advantage.

Boots effectively gives you minimum 4% discount on your expenditure, as does Tesco if you exchange your points for Deals.

I admit that i walked slowly back to my car at tesco- but didnt find anything!! Got caught out at Boots though-I found a receipt in my basket where thr points hadnt been claimed but when I went to get them added onto mine the cashier(who it turned out was the original cashier!) said that unless you mention at the time of purchse you had fprgptton your card it cant be put on as the recipt has to be validated (meaning there has to be a bar code on it) SoI just acted all stupid(strangely this comes quite naturally) and said oh ok.
