i have always thought, what was it that got me into debt, and would like to know what others think there problem was:
mine is gambling and my first car loan, been backpedalling since then.
the gambling addiction has certainly stopped apart from the odd bit of fun (which is allowed, imo). This happened as i realised it was costing me money, (this is the sounds stupid but past gamblers will know what i mean):rotfl:
i reckon it went along the lines of
£ first car loan around 6.5
then
Gambling £10k lost easily
i just think how stupid i was hehe really annoys me i could of had a nice car and a house if i had just waited longer
ie not gambled interest all ready paid on cc loans overdrafts etc

It's all down to credit being so easy to get. I wanted a card to use just for on-line purchases, the idea being I had a maximum C/L of £500 which was the most I'd be liable for if it got misusd. My credit limit went up to £10k! & I was just using it for impulse purchases - luckily the balance never got beyond £3k but it was frightening how easy it was to click on 'purchase', not bother to worry about the increasing balance & let the minimum payments go out automatically. I've now cut up the card, closed my PayPal etc. accounts & the balance is back down to £1500, due to clear within the next 10 months. I've hopefully learnt my lesson.0

When you say stopped, how many times have u gambled in the last few months and how much have you lost and is this because you cannot get access to money so easily?

I'm trying not to dwell on the cause of my problems - it just makes me depressed.
I am however concentrating on the solution.I am NOT, nor do I profess to be, a Qualified Debt Adviser. I have made MANY mistakes and have OFTEN been the unwitting victim of the the shamefull tactics of the Financial Industry.
If any of my experiences, or the knowledge that I have gained from those experiences, can help anyone who finds themselves in similar circumstances, then my experiences have not been in vain.

i realise how that sounds now sorry its nothing in comparison max of £50 in the last couple of months and like i say that was more of a social occasion ie poker with mates not sneaking to the bookies for £200 on roulette.
not really lost access to money have just been more responsible ie jigged it round closed what i dont need.
got rid of the need to gamble
turning moment was when i lost £500 in the day and at one point was over £1800 up, and i just thought whats the point it clicked that i would never be happy. hope that makes sense:)Gotta buy a ticket to win the raffle0 -

Mine was just not saying no to my ex. He took out credit in my name, and he was managing the finances because I was working stupidly long hours. He hid the bills, etc, spent like crazy on junk, then when we broke up I found out exactly how close to 'the line' we had been. Not long after that the company I was working for got rid of a ton of people (including me) and I've not found as high paying a job since, so I haven't been able to pay it back.DFW Nerd No. 140
