    Hi KK

My siuation is not dissimilar to yours. I have managed to get interest frozen on all accounts so far by doing it myself. I would be intrigued to know which ones you have failed with and what percentage of the debt you are offering them.

I kept a little back in my SOA and when MBNA came on really heavy, I was able to offer them a little more than recommended to secure zero interest. I am paying them 1.7% of what I owe them and in exchange have had interest and charges frozen for 12m. My other creditors get around 0.6%.

I'm sure you've answered this before but did you consider an IVA?

    Good luck

hi HSBC! are the worst! i am currently chasing back my charges for the last 6 yrs of which i will use to take down my debt with them, the other ones were MBNA whom i have managed to get recent charges refunded and %froze a tip they will only freeze all % when you pay an amount that will clear all debt with them within 10yrs i battled with them for months,
all the others excepted payments (except next) and didnt hear from again
my payments have gone form £1. token (which i never paid i used credit cards til i went back to work)to £200. to now just undre £400, hopefully in another 2 yrs my youngest will be at school and will free upi nearly £300 extra each month!!!!

Thankfully I haven't got HSBC (at least that I'm aware of).

Looks like you are doing really well. Good luck with it.

I'm not very happy with them and I would advise caution to anybody considering bankrupcy.

IIRC, in one of your other threads I did say that bankruptcy didn't look suitable for you and to give an alternative a go for six months... :A
My accountant pal said I'd be much better off telephoning my creditors to explain the situation & see if I can come to some arrangement first given my negotiation skills, excellent credit history and the fact I'll be back in a decent job soon, rather than blindly firing off a generic letter offering them £1 which they're hardly going to react well to!!!

    That seems a good idea.

still haven't seen your SoA but the generic situation is that a DMP (self managed or via CCCS/Payplan) is suitable where there are short term problems...temporary unemployment/sickness/maternity leave etc but not if debt repayment are going to take (say) significantly more than 5 years.
If the timescale is likely to be significantly more than 5 years to clear the debts then its sensible to consider bankruptcy or an IVA. Facts like whether you have house or other equity obviously come into it.

I didn't have a good experience with cccs either. When I first contacted them they told me to open a new bank account and transfer direct debits, only paying the essentials. I'm glad I didn't because when I had the interview they told me I don't have a debt problem and can afford all repayments, in fact I should be paying more. If I'd followed the original advice I'd have defaulted and been in trouble.

The problem is though that they took into account DLA as income when they shouldn't have done, because I need that to pay for a carer, and there's nothing like enough left to pay for one.

If you feel you're having too many problems with CCCS, then you could always try payplan.
