Hi all
I've been lurking around here for a while and just wanted to say a massive thank you to all you DFWs - you've really inspired me!
I've only got a fairly small amount of debt, but I've been stuck in a "salary trap" for several years now - I've been doing a job I absolutely hated which made me sick with worry and stress, but moving jobs was always going to mean a big salary cut and I couldn't think how I could possible afford it.
But.... I've been reading loads of your tips, challenges and inspiring stories over the last few weeks and I've given myself a massive money makeover. Now I realise I can leave that horrible job behind being more careful with my money - earn less, spend less, live more!!
So THANK YOU!!! :T:T:T And very good luck with your DFW missions everyone!!

What a nice post!
What's your new, lower-paid but happier, job going to be?
Adviser for a debt charity perhaps?0 -
Go for it and good luck my friend."We want the finest wines available to humanity, we want them here, and we want them now!"0

It's working as a clinic manager at a local physiotherapy clinic - nice people, nice environment, less commuting, less money, less stress!
I don't think I'd be qualified to work in a debt advice charity but I really admire anyone who does. Debt and money management are such huge problems in peoples lives. I think the government should invest more in educating kids and giving them skills to manage their finances - it's taken me to the ripe old age of 31 to get a grip on it and I've racked up loads of debt along the way. Luckily I've been paid enough to get rid of most of them over the last 5 years or so, but other people aren't so lucky. And when I think of all the money I've paid in interest....
This is why I think the experienced people on here offering advice, even informally, are ace. Hopefully we can all teach our kids our thrifty ways and they won't make the mistakes we did!
