Tax Rebate

I have recently started my first job (on the books) and i' now owed roughly over £500 by the H.M.R.C. (due to the emergency tax) I was wondering whether this would be repayed in a lump sum, because I have heard that due to a change in taxation legislation it is now repayed in £25 installments,

Can anyone clear this issue up for me.

Thanks.

  • The overpaid tax will be refunded by your employer once they are notified of your correct code number by HMRC. Are you in touch with your tax office regarding this? Did you complete a form P46 when you started this job?
