Holiday comps

Just got a couple of queries on the holiday comps I wondered if anyone had any advice on..

Skiing hols/golfing hols..I don't ski or golf...but would give it a bash for a free hol! Just wondered if anyone else entered these comps if they don't do the sport? I even entered the 'climb an ice mountain' hol lol:rotfl:I'm out of breath climbing the stairs! Has anyone won a hol like this and did they 'get away with not having a clue how to do it?'

Second is weekend breaks, hols etc..sometime the T&C's say 'for two adults' How strict are they on this? I know every company will be different, but does anyone have any experience of this?...I stay away from anything with 'romantic' or 'spa' in the title lol, but wondered if I was able to take my daughter away as I'm a single parent. I'm dying to win a holiday to New york, but would be gutted if I couldn't take her with me.....it's the only reason she lets me comp all night long!

Good luck to everyone, and thanks for any replies xx

Personally I do not enter for the comps I know I would not wish to win eg ski trips.
Re altering guests I would not se it as a problem but it will all depend on the promotor/managing agent in the end.I've won two big holidays in the last two years & altered the itinerary on both.On the New York trip we were able to forgo $1000 in SAKS & take our daughter. On the Vanocouver trip I was able to pay the flight cost for our daughter & by choosing the hotel carefully had no other costs.
On both occasions I found that if one is polite & friendly with the staff they will generally help out.
  • I'm like you little dumplings. I don't ski but still enter the comps as I would love to learn but simply could not afford a skiing holiday. If I was lucky enough to win, I would take lessons whilst out there.
  • Re sports, I wouldn't enter ones that require me to run (some running holidays) or eg. ice climb etc...as I think you'd probably be expected to do that!!

I also don't enter golfing competitions, as I don't play golf, and often, you are required to have a golf handicap and golf gear in order to play at the course.

However, I did enter, without realising the detail, a weekend break to Loch Lomond earlier this year, and won....to find out it included a golf package too! Lucky for me they swapped it for two lots of spa treatments!
