Wow - thanks everyone for a great response.

First of all JimmyTheWig, I think my OH would prefer the 'light side' items too. I think that the chess set would be fantastic as he loves chess so will have a look around (may have to put budget up a little).
He absolutely loves Star Wars and is always trying to convert me as it were. In all honestly, I don't know too much about the films myself and I know that if I asked him too much, he would get suspicious.
Thanks for mentioning the 'Return of the Jedi' release on the year of his birth comment - I may well try to tie this in somehow.

giggles_fairy - sounds like you got some really nice items on Ebay. Unfortunately we share an ebay account so I can't really get anything from there.

jcr16- I think I will definitely have to keep an eye out for the sweets- he has a sweet tooth.
