Bankruptcy this week

So I've finally taken the plunge having been in debt since I was 18. I have an appointment to petition for my bankruptcy this coming Thursday.
I know it's the right thing to do but have put it off for a long time as I worked in financial services and knew I would lose my job. Anyway I left my job in May as I'd been off sick for months due to depression that set in after I had cancer last year.
Just wanted to say hello and will keep you all updated as to how things go on Thursday.

Thanks for your support guys. Am due in court at 10 so will try and get an early night. I don't sleep well at the best of times so hope I manage to get a few hours!

So I had my appointment in court today. It was all a bit of a non event and didn't even have to see the judge.
The worst bit was that I had filled in my petition slightly wrong and the fact that they wouldn't accept my fee remission form. I had all my bank statements and letters from DWP but didn't have one showing the amount of my JSA dated in the last month. Luckily I had the full amount just in case but a bit of a pain nevertheless. Will claim it back in due course.
Anyway, onwards and upwards. Not sure what I feel about it all at the moment; think it may take a few days to sink in.0 -
Glad it went okay andy. Bit of a bummer about the fee remission but hope you can get it sorted. Onwards and upwards now

Hi Andy

Well done, the worst is now over and you will feel nothing, its just weird and for me it took a couple of weeks to sink in. I think the pressure and emotions we feel before we go to court are worse. We struggle on and on. It was scary for me but once out of the court room I didn't feel anything just numb. If you need any help the people on here are fantastic, they all helped me through my B/R.
Anyway good luck and congrats to a bright new future.

Glad the court day is over for you now Andy.
I expected a huge high walking away from court, but just felt flat and a bit spaced out really! It does take time to sink in.
But like you say its onwards and upwards now, good luck with everything and lean us all here for support if you need it.
