Retirement - do I need an IFA?

You run the risk of getting tarred with your rogue colleague by your comment, and by thanking his post.
Why not attempt to preserve your professional image by pressing the spam button on his post (and removing your "thank you" to him).
You might get a little more respect and credence!
Or can't you see the cynicism in the rulebreaking of these rogue IFAs and the threads they choose to pop up in?0 -
My view is that for the bulk individuals, "at retirement advice" is extremely poor. Advisors don't want to explore all the options for 1.3% of a £30k savings pot. You may be better off if vaguely competent looking at the options through a decent non advised sales route.
Especially, post RDR, true unrestricted advice will be only for the High Net Worth customers.0 -
yes
which one? why did you go to the trouble of getting the software, paying for the licences and doing all the training then stop using it?Not strange at all. I have never come across anyone that has really found cashflow planning of any use
Are you serious? You look back on old ones prepared and they rarely reflect what really happened.
But if you havent used them how do have experience of "looking back" - Anyway lifetime cashflows are about looking forward not looking back.Decent shortfall analysis software can do the same without printing out reams.
Can you give an example as Ive not found anything thats in the same league as Truth - we dont print reams eitherI know you like using Truth and if it works for you then great. However, its not some magic solution that makes all the alternatives bad
Who has said its a majic solution- just cant understand why you would say they are overated? like I asked overated by who?0 -

Ive had a look at their website and they certainly dont look like rogues. If you are worried about them getting business out of one post just imagine how many enquiries an IFA that posted each and every day for years must get!0 -

Only the rogues attempt to use these forums for free advertising.
They are soon found out!0 -

Why did they feel the need to post details of their website and to use their business name as a username if they are not here to advertise?0 -

Schools out!
I agree not very subtle is it. You could drop them an email or even phone them and ask them why, as full contact details are on their website.
Heres the link if you missed it

Are you incapable of answering any of my posts without the usual dig?
At least I'm finished work for the day - what's your excuse?I agree not very subtle is it. You could drop them an email or even phone them and ask them why, as full contact details are on their website.
Why I would I want to do that when there is a useful spam button on the site?0 -
