Coupons?

  • I don't use internet printed vouchers at all, so I write to companies asking for free samples/vouchers or buy the newspapers that have nice high value vouchers in them. Also buy magazines and lastly get some from ebay.

Welshy, do you write to a lot of companies? And what sort of ones are the best for sending out vouchers?

I hope you don't mind me picking your brains again, but you have to admit you're a mine of information!!!

    TIA

Yep, join Pampers, Huggies and Bounty.com (phantom pregnancy will help, if you have the bottle to make up some details...). They send out lovely £1 vouchers every so often.

There's also the Felix website where you can register your cat's details (phantom cat? ;) if needs must) and they will send you links to print off perfectly scannable coupons, always accepted IME.

Like Welshy, I buy batches of real coupons on eBay, I might expect to pay a quarter of face value, sometimes more, but you must be sure that:

The seller has good feedback for coupon selling
The coupons are not copies or internet prints (why pay for them?)
    They are 'original' manufacturers' coupons
The coupons are not store-specific (e.g. Tesco logo will not scan unless you buy the item)

Beware if a seller says something vague like, '£xx amount of various coupons, some cut from magazines etc., please ask any q's before bidding'. IME these will all be store specific magazine ones (not readily acceptable, not always scannable, could get a lecture if tesco cashier sees they are Asda ones, etc.). If you are unsure ask the seller the questions I have mentioned above.

Look out for in-store promotions (recent Tesco ones have been for Pilgrim's Choice Cheese, and Ocean Spray, cadge a handful if you can, for your Mum/friend/bookclub/pet/anyone). Then go find the product they are promoting on the shelf, as they may have put some coupons near it. Pick them all up if you dare (I did the other week :D ).

I have lots of coupons from last month's magazines, so read the Magazine Offers thread regularly. Read the 'products with coupons' thread regularly too (all these are on the Discount Codes & Vouchers forum). Read the Newspaper coupons thread every day and if there is a great coupon (like the £4 book voucher in last Fri/Sat Daily Mail) and other MSEers confirm it scans, go out and buy a shedload!!

  • Yes well said Coupon-Mad and I think you have covered everything I would have written. I mislaid my tesco points vouchers yesterday and have just spent 2 hours trying to find them only to look in the most obvious place and bingo they were there !!! LOL

Now have 3 tesco clubcard accounts so expecting at least 3 mailings so please no teasing this time Stebiz !!! have also written to them asking for clubcard account 3 and 4 to be seperated so maybe, just maybe I might actually get 4 sets of clubcard mailings.

Having given up the mystery shopping I now found it refreshing to have some time and with the builders arrival shortly I will be able to "project manage" effectively too.

Now I wonder do they accept clubcard vouchers too ????? LOL
