Hi firstly, I was wondering where you guys buy your christmas elf from. We started this tradition last year but it was alate so we just used an elf yoohoo (I think thats what they are called lol). THis year I want a proper elf, was thinking of getting one from this site and was wondering if anyone else had used them and were they good.

Secondly I was wondering about elf activities, we do one every day from the 1st December right to Christmas eve.
The 1st will be watching the dvd the elf brings and settling him/her in.
I also plan to do:
toilet roll snowmen/santas (might do one each day so it makes 2 days activities)
decorating christmas baubles
make decorations from salt dough
pine cone christmas trees
colouring christmas pictures
make christmas cards for relatives
christmas cookie baking session
gingerbread house building and decorating
snowman soup making
We are also taking them to the grand opera house to see the panto and then taking them on a santa trail so that fills another 2 days activities. Christmas eve we usually say goodbye to the elf who leaves us a christmas eve hamper full of goodies (you know the usual stuff lol) and we watch the dvd from it so thats the activity there. So I need about another 10 or so activities, have you guys any suggestions?
Thanks in advance xx

Hi,
I haven't heard of the website you mention but it seems a little expensive? I bought a TY Beanie Kid & TY Beanie Kid Elf Costume from ebay for £11 but I don't think there is any more listed.
However I did find this elf
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rag-Doll-Boy-Aurora-14-Xmas-ELF-Christmas-NEW-soft-toy-/130441572102?pt=UK_Soft_Toys_Bears&hash=item1e5eec6f06
Or

Or this, if you have an teddy/doll you could use;

As for activities, all I have planned so far is;
Salt Dough Decorations
Christmas Baking
Making Christmas Wrapping Paper
Making Christmas Cards
Panto
Father Christmas Visit
Making Christmas Bracelets
Making Christmas Felt Gift Bags
Paper Chains
Decorating Christmas Tree

hiya
i made my own elf last year. he is on my blog if you want a peek!
dont think i can add any more activites. you have quite alot. my kids loved hearing about all the stuff he got up to the night before and seeing the pictures of it. maybe you could do one of the last activities a scrap book of his visit.0 -
Maisiescamp, ty that first one is perfect and a much better price! I forgot about the paper chains, we did that last year. The felt bags and christmas wrap sounds fab too, I make lots of homemade gifts so it would be perfect.
Nuttybabe the scrapbook idea is fab ty, this is something I hope my kids pass on to their own in years to come so it would be lovely to look back on (plus it would help me remember next year lol).
Thanks again xMummy to Leeland 5, Lakota 4, Lennox 1 and expecting non id twins March 2011.0 -
Ours were a little mischevious last year...
We got up the morning after the first night and they'd made paper snowflakes and hung them on the lights above the kitchen table.... they left all of their cuttings out everywhere too! DS and DD were in stitches when they came in and saw it all!
Other things they got up during the night were:
climbing in bed with my DS and DD - (we took photos and shown them the following morning)
playing a game of pool on daddy's pool table (little ones know that is a BIG no no!!)
parachuting off the living room lights using Daddy's pants
snowball fights with a group of other toys (cotton wool balls!)
waking up to the elves on the sofa - they'd been watching tv and had lots of empty sweet wrappers and drinks next to them
playing games on the laptops
and they 'borrowed' mummys car one night ... we found them sitting on the dashboard of the car ....with macdonalds wrappers. And when we turned the engine on, the radio was turned up really loud!!
There's loads of ideas if you look on the older elf threads... there was an American site I found quite amusing too last year.. I'll see if I can find it as I can't remember what it was called at the mo!0
