Demand for money after discharge

Hi, I was discharged from a DRO on 11th Sept this year. I have recently written to all creditors to get my credit file marked correctly. I have just received a letter from one of them with a demand for the 'balance'. What do I do? Do I phone, write to them, the Financial Ombudsman????

I would phone and tell them they aren't allowed to do this...tell them if they do not desist you will write to the Financial Ombudsman about their bad practice...

I think this is fairly common....it's either a genuine mistake on thier part or they are chancers who hope that some people pay up...

Depends on how the letter is written. Its usually a demand for the balance in accordance with the consumer act or something like that. However they are always badly written!

I wouldn't waste my time doing anything for this first one. If it becomes more frequent then I would take action (to a point). Its not like they can touch you now anyway.
  • Would you not pass this onto the OR that dealt with the DRO?

Thanks for the replies, have checked my credit report and this particular debt is showing is satisfied, the date on the letter/statement received today is Oct 1st and shows as satisfied on oct 6th, so I'm guessing things have crossed somewhere along the lines.

UnderPressure - No OR involved afaik. I dealt with it all myself.
