do u still get discount if shop is out of stock

Just a for instance here as I have only just used Tesco online for the first time. If the total bill comes to £58 for example but they are out of stock for this and that which gives a final delivery total of for example 49,98 would you still be able to claim £5 discount for spending over £50 even though you didnt due to lack of stock?

  • I have only ever done ONE tesco.com grocery shop. The offer was for £10 off a £75 spend. I did the order and lo and behold an item was out of stock bringing the total to something like £74 ! I did not get the £10 off.

What really added insult to injury was the fact that the out of stock item was...teabags! They did not substitute this with another type to bring it to £75.

I must admit this was about 4 years ago and so things might have changed since then and no doubt if I'd contacted Tesco I would have got my £10 reduction.

I am sure other people will have had a more recent experience and will put you right - but this was my "early days" experience.

The BIG DIFFERENCE back then was there was no code on the order itself - you handed a "£10 off" voucher to the delivery driver who would take it back to the store and then CREDIT your card with £10. I suppose they looked at the total - £74 - and so did not credit.

The £10 off voucher came in a letter asking me to try tesco.com for the first time.

Now of course you input codes on the order so it is a different operation - I should give it another go I suppose - I seem to be missing out on a lot of offers.
