Hi all
are there defined amounts of time between calling the bailiffs office and starting to pay, before the bailiff comes for a second time, to make this clearer, i made a payment on the 20 sep and 6th oct this year and the bailiff turned up again last night 18th and is there any legislation as to what they can charge for these visits.
Regard

There's no law on how often the bailiff can turn up but there is legisaltion over the fees that can be charged. The local authority in question may have some local guidelines agreed with the bailiff and there are national standards on enforcement.
A couple of websites with info for you:
http://www.bailiffadviceonline.co.uk/bailifffeecomplaints_examplect.htm
http://www.nationaldebtline.co.uk/england_wales/factsheet.php?page=02_bailiffs_and_council_tax#chapter12I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0 -
Thanks for that, I suppose my main gripe is that after responding to the first letter and making subsequent payments, nearly a month later, i get a second visit, it's another £18 on top.
Thanks
