Hi,
Have recenlty re-connected my pc to the internet. It had Mcafee on it about a year ago The Mcafee subscription has expired and i keep getting a pop up with a link to their website recommending i renew my subscription. I have tried uninstalling it from 'Add/Remove' programs in the control panel but it's not showing there as an option to remove. It only pop's up upon start-up and i think mcafee is the cause for my pc being exceptionally slow as it's probably conflicting with AVG.
I have the following:
broadband ethernet connection
windows xp - sp1
avg
adaware
zonealarm
spwareblaster
(From reading the MSE forums I think i have the necessary protection inplace to stay bug free :beer: but any recommendations will come in handy
)
Any ideas and help would be greatly appreciated

Yes you will need to use a removal tool to uninstall McAfee as it will most likely conflict with any other anti-virus program. Enter your particular product here to download a removal tool.

You might want to consider installing sp2 as well.

Thank you for the response.
I tried installing sp2 at the weekend but i gave up 6 hours, how long is it supposed to take?0 -
It takes a while, but that does seem excessive. I did mine off a disk, so I'm not sure how long it should take; though if you have broadband I'd expect less than 6 hrs.
hang tight, someone will tell you soon..........
