Employment Advice Forum Needed

Hello
I couldn't see the right home for this, so please move it if you want to.
I'm looking for a good forum where you can post questions and get answers about employment law issues. I've googled but found nothing great. I know when my O/H had debt problems, we found 2 sites which were great, and you could really get answers. I'm looking for the equivilant but the legal side of employment/sickness/dismissal.
If anyone can recommend a site I'd appreciate it.

Hello Apple
Did you notice the sticky thread *USEFUL LINKS* by the Board Guide, Fran? In the thread is this link which has lots of employment information.
It's not exactly a 'post questions and get answers' site............but you should find the information you need there.
Failing that, book an appointment with the Employment Law expert at your local Citizens Advice Bureau.;)10 Dec 2007 - Led Zeppelin - I was there. :j :cool2: I wear my 50 (gold/red/white) blood donations pin badge with pride. Give blood, save a life. 0 -
I've already spoken to Acas who were ok with the general threads. Nile thanks but it's kind of complicated and I really need some specialist advice. The debt sites I mentioned above were great because you could ask questions very specific to your own perculiar circumstances, and they had I.P's etc who were familiar with stuff CAB weren't. I was kind of hoping someone had come across an equivilant employ/legal site on their travels.
I did try our local CAB but they said it wasn't something they had experience of. They suggested Acas. I've spoken to an employment solicitor who was foaming at the mouth to sign me up on a no win no fee basis ( which gives me confidence there's merit in it ) but I'm cautious, so I'd like to get second opinions.
So if anyone has any other web site/forum/ask an expert type suggestions to make - I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.0 -
Is it something you could post on here about?
There are lawyers and other professionals who post on here, who may have the expertise to help you.
You should be aware that any professional posting on ANY forum, is likely to pepper their comments with disclaimers, simply because it is not possible to give specific advice about a personal situation without seeing all the documentation and being able to ask questions and clarify issues.
Nevertheless, you may be able to get enough information to help you to decide how to proceed.
Good LuckI'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
Are you in a trade union ? Does your insurance cover include access to free legal advice (sometimes policies do) ?0

If you have legal expenses cover on your home insurance then this will cover both free advice and also pursuing a claim if they feel you have a case to answer (this is certainly preferable to no-win, no-fee offerings)All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers

No trade union. The legal expenses cover is a possibility, I'll check and see whether it's included - I hadn't thought of that.

The free legal advise on Legal Expenses (Legal Protection as it is also sometimes called) is one of the most under utilised services I know of.... I find myself calling our solicitors a few times a year just to get clarification on things or conformation. Given how many million policies we have with legal expenses cover I believe the team of solicitors (there 24/7) is still only 20 strong which just shows how under used they are.All posts made are simply my own opinions and are neither professional advice nor the opinions of my employers
