Currys and Comet haggling

hiya im after a new large tv for my house and i was wondering if anybody bought a tv from these shops and if theyve been able to get a discount.
I knew a friend who used to work in pc world a while back and he said they used to be able to and just wondering if anybody recently have tried.

I recently (three weeks ago) bought a TV in Comet. I asked if i could have a discount and pointed out that I could go home and order the same TV from them online through a cashback site and get 3% cashback. The salesman then went to speak to the Manager and came back saying that I could have a power surge adaptor priced at £99.99 for free which I accepted.
I also tried the same thing at PC World when I bought a new laptop and they did give me a discount of £17.

I've become accustomed to doing this all the time! I needed a converter for my mac and so went to PC world, admittedly I was mis-advised by an employee about the product a week before hand, but used this to get a discount on the converter. Saved £15.

On the Gadget show this week, they had a bit about haggling. Seemed a bit far fetched to me, especially the camera haggle with a coin trick.
Shops would not fall for the coin trick would they ? or was it because she was blonde eye candy.

Otis ended up winning that challenge, spending the least, by buying online in the end anyway. If you fancy traipsing round trying to convince Nigerians to let you have something for nothing by the toss of a coin then good luck........

I've always found that things are cheaper online, even if you do manage to haggle down store costs. The exceptions are sometimes they do good high street sales, but even then, you may find the same product cheaper online, with cashback.
