Swimming costume sizes - how do they work?

I'm hoping to start swimming next week and am currently looking for a swimming costume. One of the (British) sites I've looked on, has the sizes listed as 32, 34, 36, etc. Aside from trying them all on, how do I know roughly what size is for me? I'm a size 10-12 in clothes.

hiya hun, i got one from la senza that went on cup size ie, 34e, and it was a lovely fit, i'm size 10-12 also. was well worth the money, though i was very embarrassed on my first outing in it........a kids swim party with dd!!!

The 32, 34, 36 etc sizes sound like EU sizes and if they are, a dress size 10 is an EU 40 and a dress size 12 is a 42.

But if it is bust size I think a size 10 ends up being around a 34 and size 12 around a 36.

Which sites are you looking at? Maybe post on here and we can see if we can help. Also, some stores will have a size guide part to their site.
