Letter from Mackenzie Hall

Hello,
Out of the blue this morning I have received a letter from Mackenzie Hall saying they are trying to contact me on a 'personal matter.'
Now, I have been in debt and am paying everything back if I haven't already done so. This letter concerned me to start with until I did a search for them online, resulting in various threads complaining about them, etc.
I'm not going to ring them & waste my money on the matter but what should I do?
I don't want to cause problems but I also don't want to waste my time & money on trying to get out of them the information I need. I understand they are rude & abrasive and I don't want to be abused to be honest.
Can I just ignore this letter, will any further action be taken? I'll be moving soon anyway.
Thanks, any help would be great.
Jo

Wait until they send the letter that tells you what it's about. Then you can make a more informed decision as to what path to take.0

Thanks very much, I'll do that. :-)0

Hi Jo
I too got a letter from the said company yesterday. I too have read lots of reviews regarding them so have decided to ignore it.
I've been living at my current property for over 13 years, and I have never owed money to anyone since I've lived here, that I've either not paid back or are paying back. My credit report is absolutely fine.
Therefore, I can only think this is a debt from prior to 13 years ago. I did go through a period where I stuggled as a single parent, I thought I'd paid everything off - but I may have missed something?
So I assume this will fall in the 6 year statute that has been mentioned? Could they still add this to my credit file now, even it is 13 years or more old?
Many thanks.

Type Mackenzie Hall into search and you'll ge the idea.
DO NOT RING THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DO NOT PAY THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Ignore the letter. If they ever bother to send you a 'proper' request for a payment then look up the 'prove it' and 'statute barred' template letters and they'll go away. MH chase unenforceable debts that they have bought for a pittance.Justice will not be served until those who are unaffected are as outraged as those affected (Benjamin Franklin) JFT96...YNWA0 -
The only way Muck Hall should ever be communicated with is through a spiritual medium.....0

They've probably bought an old debt due from someone with the same name as you and are chancing their arm that they can bamboozle you into paying them as well. If the debt is from J Bloggs, they will trawl the electoral rolls from surrounding areas for all the J Bloggs and mail out to each of them.
If someone has multiple debts going back over several years, they have difficulty keeping track of them all, so it is quite possible for them to accept the debt and pay something off it thinking it is one they have forgotten.
I would totally ignore them until they throw up something more positive. Don't phone them, they'll note your number and pester you for weeks.0 -
Hi all,
I got a letter from these guys today and called them before checking them out. As soon as I told them I didn't know what the letter was about and so wasn't going to give them my date of birth, the chap on the other end just said "thanks for your time" and hung up! I guess they're not that keen on chasing my supposed debt!0 -
Hi,
Thanks for all your replies. I feel much more confident in ignoring the letter now.
Muchly appreciated

Hi guys
I made the mistake of phoning MH. A very rude chap told me i owed £600 on a loan from 1997 and it was about time i paid it. I didnt have a clue what he was talking about. I told hime i wasnt paying a penny and i wanted to see the credit agreement. The guy went crazy so i hung up. After 13 years im sure this debt is statute barred its not even my debt. How do these people get away with it?0
