The Pay Rates Thread

Am currently looking for work, and thought it would be useful to have an idea of what the major companies pay. I have a certain figure I wouldnt work for less than, but companies seem to be reluctant to publish their pay rates. I dont want to waste my time filling out applications and going to interviews if the pay is below my 'threshold', as I wouldnt accept the job anyway.

I'm currently looking at Asda, Argos and Boots, so if any current/ex-employees are happy to share the pay rates, it'd be much appreciated.

You dont say what level of job you are looking for?

Full time, excluding directors, our employees are paid between £11,000 to £180,000 - Insurance company

Rates for those starting at the bottom. For me, I'm looking at the types of places you might go to for a holiday job - Asda, Tesco, Argos, Woolies, Boots. And for the type of position, non-management ones.

Well at M&S you would start off on £5.60 at the very lowest but may get a location premium dependant on the store. Some of the stores in Central London pay £1.00 extra but the Marble Arch store pays an extra £1.55 so you would start on £7.15 at that store.

You get a discount card after a few weeks of working and various other perks.

For starting at the bottom, if you get the right store and right department (for you) it can be really good fun.
