Aren't the ISO standards just another big con too.
Only get paperwork up to date the date before inspection. Inspectors, as they're self employed (well ours are) have an incentive to pass clients or they lose future inspection income.0 -
There is a post recession bubble in the public sector that believes it has ridden the storm and is completely safe because there particular job is essential. I'm sure many print press operators thought that in the 1980's.
The modern day public sector is like the nationalised industries in the seventies. We are big, we are unionised, we are inefficient, our purpose is to create employment not to provide a public service.0 -
I've worked in both sectors and have seen good and bad in both. What I've found is that when people move from private to public, they often start full of energy with a can-do attitude, but end-up being smothered by the culture they enter, as they are usually vastly outnumbered by people who've been there 30-40 years, since school, who believe they are giving their all. However, like promotes like in the public sector and what's needed most is management who aren't lifers with the ability to sack the many who are being carried.Fokking Fokk!0

I'd agree that there are good and bad in both and also hate coasters.
I wonder whether there is potentially another aspect to this issue though. I have heard rumours in certain areas of the public sector of people being made to re-apply for their jobs. I can already see that the brightest and best are at the same time looking to see what is out in the private sector. There is a real risk, imo, that many good public sector employees will jump ship leaving the service poorer for their loss.Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? It has happened, but not in the way I suspect you mean. It's been used as a way of managing redundancies by having everyone apply for a reduced pool of jobs & using the application process to decide who should go rather than an individual worker appling for their own post0 -
I will never hire anyone who comes from the public sector - simple statement of fact. It may be prejudicial, it may be irrational, but given the choice I am not preparedt to take the risk of getting a jobsworth.0

dirty public sector cretins can have a meeting about it when they are sacked, then if they get an interview in the private sector they can have a meeting about that and set up a review of the process, followed by a blue sky thinking away day in a 5* hotel followed by another meetings, a debrief, a health and safety review and finally another meeting.
Meanwhile, in the real world, the candidate who got the job will have been WORKING for a fortnight.0 -
the public sector must be loving having to reinterview people for their current jobs - more pointless ADMIN!!!
My friend's girlfriend works in the NHS and she says her bosses are not allowed to say anything negative in their annual reviews - laughable. what's the point of that???0
