BREAKING NEWS!!! Rightmove +3.1%: Crash Over, Ghouls Routed And Capitualating

Tell you what, it's still an index, and shows that the housing market is all over the place. I said when the halifax dropped so much, it will probably be up as much again next month. Just got the wrong index

Wonder why agents are suggesting higher prices though. It's not like +3.1% is exactly small. It's asking prices of around £8000 more on average over last month?0 -
Even rightmove are basically saying "idiots"The property website said the bullish pricing while traditionally a normal reaction to the start of the autumn selling season, was unsupported by market and economic fundamentals - except in a few areas of major housing shortages.
“Given the challenges of the current market, the behaviour of sellers in raising their average asking prices by over £7,000 takes some explaining," said Miles Shipside, director of Rightmove.
He warned the tactic is not likely to be "successful".
"Though it is a sign that many sellers are not experiencing high levels of financial stress but can’t afford to accept a lower price if they are to make their sums stack up for the next move,” he said.
Rightmove expects this week's Comprehensive Spending Review to have a negative effect on housing market sentiment and "consequently challenge further any perception of pricing power among sellers".

Glad to see asking prices lose their credibility again on a steep rise.
I still go by asking prices mean nothing, perhaps some more on here should take the same stance after the last three months.:)
Here is how important they were last month.

Like how you have highlighted myself in that link.
Lovely job.
Shame what I said in post 3 in response to post 2 has been completely proven

Asking prices rise.
Completed sales at a record low.
Could there be a connection?0 -
Don't, GD as on the same thread you wrote.Graham_Devon wrote: »From asking prices are useless, don't mean anything, to discussing baked beans and whether you can rent a tin, in response to why they don't matter.
Me thinks asking prices DO matter

I just remembered it was your thread so that is how I searched it.
Don't start pointing at others when you made a big fuss about it last month.
I personally think asking prices mean nothing, but please remember what you right, you felt they were important last month.0 -
But but but but but...yer but no but yer but
You serious? You take ANOTHER tounge in cheek post, even with a wink after it to show it's a tounge in cheek post, as making it a big fuss? Do you not know what a wink and a grin is used to imply?? No wonder you have so many problems.
The last thread you tried to make something of a tounge in cheek post. Seems you haven't learnt.
The sweet smell of desperation is starting to turn into a stench
Kudo's for the attempt though.0 -
what is a tounge?0

Asking prices rise.
Completed sales at a record low.
Could there be a connection?
completed sales are well above the record low, which was in late 2008 at about half todays volumes.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.

Funny how when it is a rise the same thing happens.
Asking prices don't matter do they.;)
Not when they are increasing.;) (well to some they do)
I am not desperate a theoretical 3.1% increase in my house price judged on RAW data of people putting their houses on the market means nothing to me.
As per last month and every month before that it is sale prices that matter.
So lets not do the Devon show on this tread, hey.0
