Hi they do feed you but not your partner and TBH when I was in hospital 19 months ago having my daughter the food was SO VILE as to be inedible! Been to see my consultant today as 12 weeks pregnant with my second (had a C with my DD) and told him I wanted to do it as nature intended if poss this time as don't want to have to stay in any longer than necessary partly cos the food is vile and he laughed and asked would I believe him if he told me it had managed to get even worse!
  • In addition to pot noodles and cup-a-soups for oh, how about oats-so-simple or the other ready brek/instant porridge type stuff? And things like cereal bars. Even things like slimfast shakes in a can, although he may not be dieting, they allegedlly contain all the vitamins and minerals of an average meal.

I am a theatre nurse at the hospital were I gave birth to DD 5 years ago, and was SO indignant when a passing porter recognised my Dh (I had been there for 48 hours by this point, and only just at the pushing stage), he then took my Dh down to the staff canteen, and treated him to a cooked breakfast, which he bought back to my room and ate (Dh, not the porter) in front of me, I hadn't kept anything down since labour started, yet there was he shovelling sausage into his gob infront of me, while the madwife was passing him her swipe card, asking him to pop back down to the canteen and get her a breakfast too:mad:

this made me chuckle, and not in a bad/rude way before anyone trys to say so! , whenever I have been in Hosp (lots lately) the staff have actively encouraged family to bring food in for patients as they know how bad the food is that is provided.

Hygiene wouldnt really come into it unless your cooking things there.... a sandwich is hardly gonna cause an outbreak - specially as it was probably made in a cleaner environment than the hospital anyway, and yes I speak that from my experience in hospitals! Yes they do provide 3 meals a day, and from what i saw, none of it was healthy! and the vege options every day for a fortnight was macaroni cheese.....
