Where can I find a square (storage) cake tin?

Looking for a square cake tin to house my Christmas cake when I make it next week. I can't find any in 'bricks and mortar' shops. Ebay only seems to have 'designer' ones and those are anathema to me. Biscuit tins are too shallow. Does anyone have any ideas?

Or get one of those lidded plastic storage boxes from Poundstretcher etc and gaffer-tape the lid airtight.

Personally, I wrap my cake in clingfilm and then either tin foil or greaseproof to keep it airtight, then take it out and feed it every 2 weeks.

However, most supermarkets have large, square storage boxes such as these. I do use them for keeping cakes in. It's about 30cm square by 9cm deep.

Oops, that link didn't work! Go to www.asda.com and search for foodsaver. 3ltr square box starts from £1

  • My MIL has been making us Christmas cakes for years (I made my first today!) and she always uses a Jacobs Biscuits for Cheese tin. She puts the cake on the lid and uses it upside down if you see what I mean :)

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. The Ikea ones look great but my nearest is too far away for me to drive there at the moment. Lakeland looks good but ditto. I would really like a tin rather than plastic.
So - if anyone has any ideas where to find one in the High Street I would be grateful.

Do you have a TK Maxx near you, if so it might be worth a look in there. They have lots of kitchen storage items/cake tins/trays etc

little owl do you have a Morrisons? Been in today and they have plastic square storage boxes near the eggs and baking section for £4 with a couple of smaller ones inside too. Looks pretty sturdy too. I bought a round one with handle on from Boyes last week but that was round, not sure if they had square ones. hth Thrifty
