My dw has just died
So lookin to buy another, the one we have is second hand and has been great but is just too noisy, drives me mental!!
I have looked on electrical 123 and they tell you the noise level, most are around the 50 dcb mark, is that loud or quiet?
Any recommendations ???

I got a Beko DWD5411S Silver Fullsize Dishwasher a couple of months ago from Argos. Cost £220. Much quieter than my last one - can't tell its on whereas my last one made us have to turn the TV up!! Its seems very quick as well. I would thorougly recommend it.0

Bear in mind that decibels are not a straight-line unit of measure - 50dB is 10 times louder than 40dB so apparently small differences in the number will make a big difference to how loud it actually sounds.
We have a open plan kitchen/family room with an integrated dishwasher. The Zanussi dishwasher supplied by the house builder ten years ago was rated at 52dB. It was too loud really to watch the TV in peace. When it died four years ago, my main criteria for its replacement was quietness.
Most cheaper ones seemed to be around the 52dB level as well. I ended up buying the one-down-from-the-top-of-the-range Miele for £690. A lot of money to pay but it's effectively silent and we can now use the family room without noticing the diswasher is on. It came with a 5 year warranty, gets used probably 10 times a week and has never missed a beat.
It is rated at 46dB. The top-of-the-range was 42dB but cost about £1100.
If you can find one at 46dB, go for it. 48 might be OK, I would avoid anything rated 50 or higher.
Hope that helps.0 -
I was keen to get a quiet one when buying my last dishwasher and bought a Siemens. You will need to check out the spec before you buy as they list how noisy they are. Love my Siemens though is 5 years old and no problems.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0

It's now £184 at Argos and rated at 49dB. It will certainly sound significantly quieter than a 52dB.
Even more of a bargain. Don't forget to go through TopCashBack as well, and if you have one use a Tesco or any other money back/loyalty card as well
I like the way you can stack the dishes etc in it. Very versatile. The cutlery basket takes the items separatley, so you don't get anymore spoons sticking together and not washing properly. The basket also slides along, so the you can put it where you want. The stick up racks also fold down on part of the top & bottom, so makes it much easier to stack larger item.
I can't remember what the last one was, but it was considerably more expensive that this & I only got 3-4 years out of that one.0 -
