The "Debt Free By Christmas Day" challenge

Right, time for drastic action. My debt-free date is currently May. I'm going to try to clear it all by Christmas Day.

Here's the deal... if you've got an amount of debt that you're on track to clear sometime next year, join me in this challenge to wipe it off by 25 December.

Add:Or if you're on the road to debt freedom and feel like setting yourself a milestone to reach by Christmas Day (not necessarily £0), feel free to get involved.

I realise it's a bit of a tough time to be saving, with presents etc around the corner. But if you're up for it and need the moral support, post here and we'll keep each other posted on our progress.

Today (9 October), I have £1,600 to clear. I normally throw £200/month at it. There's 77 days until Christmas.

Any takers?

much as Id love to, I really dont think this is feasible for me! Ambitious though I am etc, it would be impossible.

    Or would it ?

What an excellent idea for a challenge :D

I would love to join but unfortunately I am in a bit too much debt to be able to clear it before Christmas.

I wish you lots of luck with your challenge :j

I'll try for next chrimbo... however i wish it was possible for this year - i wish i only had that much debt! mine is about £20,000!

I think I have to see how my new biz takes off, then I should have an inkling of how long it will take.

Although how could I make £20,000 in a couple of months... it can't be legal surely ;)

GOOD LUCK EVERYONE GOING FOR IT!

Do we have to specify which Christmas Day
Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches

I think I'd have to turn to prostitution to pay my debts off by Christmas! And I wouldn't even get much for that now with my baby bump!!

Good luck to everyone going for this challenge- will be watching your progress with interest.

To make things a bit more open, how about "a target" by Christmas Day? Doesn't have to be debt freedom, just some sort of milestone (sub £10k / sub £5k / whatever).

Feel a bit awkward talking about aiming to clear stuff in a few months when I realise there are people out there with more significant amounts they're dealing with.
