I cannot be trusted.

I am realising that I cannot be trusted to go out and not spend money.
Funny thing is, I don't desire handbags or expensive shoes.
For me it is food shopping.
I don't know whether to buy the BOGOF's or just stick to the list, I'm scared of not having my debit card or a bit of extra cash incase I have overspent a bit.
I think taking the card is the worse thing for me because if I see a bargain and it's something we use regularly, then I end up buying it.
Wish I could get a grip of this and take the lead from those of you who look in the freezer, plan the meals and then just get what's needed.
If I get into a supermarket, I really can't be trusted.:o

I COMPLETELY understand where you're coming from on this. Just returned from M & S, having done the Dine In for £10 - having saved £8.30 on it. Now I have to think how to incorporate it into my cooking plan for the next few days - my freezer is chockablock (and so am I).

Sounds like you know what to do but doing it is hard.

Trust me, it does get easier. If you love shopping why not do a combination of 3 shops. I did this when I had to cut back. I used to go to Netto, Farm Foods and Home Bargains. Going to all three feels like you are spending lots but in actual fact it helped me save £30 per week on tesco's alone. It will satisfy your shopping urge.

Now I can afford to spend a little more but its a habit that I cannot break. I don't always do the three shops but moneysaving is always in the back of my mind.

I like the scan and shop at tesco's as it gives you a running total of your bill. I like shopping online for the same reason and although there is a delivery charge, you are not tempted by things at the end of aisles luring you to spend.

Hi I would agree with shopping online as you stick to your list, meal planning and bulk cooking are also a way to keep the cost done. This website http://www.cheap-family-recipes.org.uk/ has two months worth of meals planned already for you with shopping lists ready so takes all the work out of it if you are busy.
