Advice Needed for kitchen with the 'wow' factor

Beautiful kitchens - you definitely have an eye! You should post more - love looking at photos of nice kitchens. Makes sense that your taste evolves - only natural. Can definitely sympathise with "more expensive"!

Here is a photo of part of my kitchen... single ovens one on top of the other (extra tall housings and wall units, so possibly higher than they look). Agree that they would look better side by side, but didn't feel that I had the space... The higher one would get used more, but the lower one is still probably better than the height of a range cooker.
This kitchen also shows the use of horizontal handles... had to have them vertical on the curved units, though.
(splashbacks not fitted yet and some of the pelmet is missing and the microwave is being changes for one with a bigger cavity)

Lovely, classic style
The curved units do look really good with the granite and youcan tell it's been fitted by someone who realy know what they're doing - nice cabinetry around the fridge. And of course you ovens aren't too high! The ones I put in are the same height as your top one, so you're pulling stuff out no higher than waist height.
I can see why you wouldn't be happy with the microwave - it's all frame which is really cheeky of them.
You must be so excited that it's all coming together now and that you have a beautiful new home!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Thank you very much.
It is (or should be) a very well made kitchen and the fitter is excellent. I know that Maple isnt in fashion at the moment, but it makes it a very warm/sunny room...
The replacement microwave will not be inflame - it isn't a lot larger, but should make some difference. I definitely see the sense in side by side ovens if you have the space - definitely more practical.
We moved yesterday and today - everything unpacked now, trying to find homes for things... Staying in a hotel again tonight (less disruption to our 9 month old). One bit of a pain today: just as they were unloading one of the removals vans, I found out that the decorators had removed the wardrobe rails (in all the wardrobes) and haven't put them back! Can't hang anything up - doh!

Lovely kitchen - so much for not winning any style awards - makes my kitchen designs look even more dull - keep the photos coming though as there is obviously more kitchen to see (can see bits peeking out in corner of photo)

can you post links to your other kitchens to inspire me as I cannot find them despite having seen them before in months gone by and have gone through lots of your posts - promise not stalking you!!!!!!
Going to go and sulk though that everyone has such a lovely kitchen and not me!!0 -
QTThank you very much
.
Almost done - missed a few tricks along the way, but... it still has the wow factor for me
- hopefully post a few photos next week. Bathroom should be finished then too.

Seen the kitchen and that is stunning so can you post photos of bathrooms as well please?? Just in case I'm inspired to tackle the bathroom next (shhhhhhh - don't tell hubby)

Hi
I posted these on another thread... Probably a bad idea for me to post again here - your husband will want my head on a pole...!
This is my master en-suite - Family bathroom still in progress (had a problem with the bath ordered): family bathroom not quite as fancy (smaller - so no option for a huge bath or anything).Pictures of finished bathroom (although they still need to grout around the mirror). I am really pleased with it:

Picture of finished utility room (same cabinets and floor as kitchen, but laminate worktops instead of granite and plain white tiles instead of glass splashbacks). Sounds daft, but I love it - really practical room...
Hope to have photos of the family bathroom and the kitchen by the end of the week...0 -
I hate you lot - I'm having severe kitchen envy here.
We're about to complete on a house with a hideous 1980s/90s formica monstrosity of a kitchen. Half the cupboard doors need re-hanging and it's overwhelmingly... beige.
I can see it not being long for this world if we can find a decent finance deal to get it re-done - but it's a small space, and we've got too many appliances (and the dishwasher is none-negotiable
) so it's going to be fun. Our entire kitchen is like one of your walls, or utility rooms! Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
Here's my contribution. Just finished last week so am still in love with it!!

Not cheap, but not super designer expensive either. I agree with all the advice given on this website about finding a local kitchen designer. They are actually all over the place, or go the the Home Shows and they will have smaller suppliers who are keen to get work. MUCH cheaper than Magnet etc, and some will use a range of suppliers to get things cheaper.
That kitchen was completed for about 40% of the Magnet estimate.0 -
Our house had a "retro kitchen" when we moved in, and we hated it, but as the units were in good condition, we saved money by having a kitchen fitter just replace the doors and worktops.
The washing machine and tumble drier live in the garage(much quieter and less danger of flood damage).
Don't go for integrated appliances, they look good but cost on average £150 more than free-standing ones, ,and they are a pain if you have to get at the back of them, or replace them.0
