Just a thankyou to those who have inspired me

I was just thinking about how over the years I have been lucky enough to have had a few free craft supplies and helpful people that I would love to thank.
I lived at the top of East Lane market in SE London may years ago and was regularly given bags of scraps from one of the stall holders I regularly used.:)
There was also a stall that did haberdashery items and she would happily source things I needed in small amounts for my dolls I made.:)
An elderly neighbour who gave me many sewing scraps and supplies when she could no longer sew due to her eyesight failing.:(
A neighbour, when I first moved to Northampton many years ago who gave me fabric she had no use for.:)
Staff at the lower school I worked in, who regularly produced fabric and trimmings for me from home and gave me confidence and allowed me to pass on some crafts to the children.:)
My fellow MSE crafters for their ideas and tips online.:)

There are many more over the years but mainly I would like to thank my mother for teaching me to sew and my Needlework teacher who had so much faith in me she would stay behind after school to give me extra lessons to pass on her knowledge.:)
Thankyou.
:T

People who pass on tips and skills or even just the things to practice those skills yourself, are often the ones who just get forgotten, yet have sewn the seed that grew into our love of creating something from nothing. The incredible thing is this year DD1,3 and 4 have all been finally showing an interest in crafts and I am teaching them the basics to begin with. DD3 is still showing no signs of creative curiosity. I was beginning to think I hadn't passed the creative gene on to my girl's!!!!!

I keep wondering myself if I could possibly come up with an original idea, with which to possibly start a small business of my own, but so far have thought of nothing truely original :undecided

  • I don't really think there are any original ideas anymore, just variations of things that have already been done. Even when you think you've come up with something new and original when you look around you usually find that someone has done it before you;)
