Do US versions of XBox 360 games work? We bought an original XBox game in the US on holiday and when we got home it was region locked and couldn't be played on a UK XBox. Don't know if the same applies to 360s.

My son bought Xbox Fable II yesterday instore at HMV for £10 new. They also had it preowned for £8.

That's the US Xbox site, the UK one says £19.99.

Can you even download from the US version in the UK? Microsoft are generally pretty tight on that stuff. More's the pity!

working fine for me - just followed the original link - put in xbox live password and it automatically added to my queue:

if it was us only it should have popped up saying 'not avaliable in your region' before adding to my queue, plus if thats the case just goto hotmail and make a usa account then create a usa account on you xbox (can be in the uk) and link to the usa hotmail account.

you now have a usa account on your uk xbox - can't access netfix or region locked content, but anything else like demos or free offers can be downloaded and then used by anyone else on that xbox.

example: log into usa account, download a demo or game add on before its out in the UK. then just log out and log into your account and you have full access to what you've just downloaded


like i said though - the above original link is working perfectly for me from my uk xbox with a uk account

I would think downloads are different than the games on a disc. I've bought games for my UK-purchased 360 in the U.S -- I go online first and see which ones work in other regions. You have to hunt for the info, as the game sellers won't tell you, but there are some sites where people list what they've found through trial and error.

just goto google and type in

xbox region wiki

and click on the 1st link, shows all region free and multi region xbox 360 games - just check that the game says yes in the PAL box as well as either NTSC/U or NTSC (the U is only there if there is a Jap version of it as well) - long as its green for NTSC and PAL then the game should be region free
