Hello, I am new to this site and have a query regarding a loan and a credit card that I have with a particular company and have had for some years. For some reason unbeknown to me they have my title as "squadron Leader" as apposed to "Mr"?? It is on my loan agreement and on credit card? It only raised my concern when a family member noticed this on a letter I had and said that I could get in trouble for it ie Fraud! What should I do? And obviously since reading other threads I am wondering if the debts are actually unenforceable?
Please let me know your thoughts.

You only noticed it when someone else pointed it out? Are you capable of managing your own finances?
Call the company, tell them your title is wrong. They will change it. You will continue to pay your debt. Sorted.Gone ... or have I?0 -
No, It only became a Concern when someone else noticed it!! Until then it was simular to the rank i hold in work but not my legal title.0

So you hold a pretty senior rank in the armed forces but you are incapable of noticing a glaring error on paperwork? :rotfl:
If you are being serious, then call the lender and get them to change it. What else is it that you need to know?Gone ... or have I?0 -
Again No. I'm not in the armed forces. I have asked for you thoughts on what to do not on what i am or am not capable of doing. I had the credit card when I was 19 (over 7 years) and didn't take it as a legal problem. This was obviously before everyone jumped on the band wagon of reclaimg everything they have ever borrowed!! My main concern is that they may think it is fraudulent or may ask me to pay back all moies owed in ful!! That is why I asked if it was a forceable agreement. as Squadren leader is obviously a title that I do not hold. Thanks0

So you didn't notice this for seven years? This gets even more silly!
No, they will not charge you with fraud. No, they will not recall your whole debt. Nor will they write off your debt, which it is pretty clear is what you are really asking. For goodness sake, just ring them!Gone ... or have I?0 -

Completely agree. It is deemed a technical error, and as you signed an agreement with them, you aren't gettin this written off. Pull the other.Best Regards

I did notice it, and didn't realise what bearing the title had. As i said I do hold a rank (not in armed forces) and presumed that the lady on the phone had matched Sqd Ld to my job title. I have no intention of trying to have it written off as I am very proud of the state of my credit report and the impact a ccj or other 'black mark' could have on my other projects. I still have had no rock solid definate answer just 'silly' remarks about if i noticed it.0

Just give them a call (and possibly put it in writing too). It should be easy enough to change your details, you'll just have to be without your credit card for a few days.
Whether or not they'll request ID I don't know - it may be worth popping into your local branch with two forms of ID (one photo) on the off chance it saves you some hassle.0 -
The software that is used to set things up is very similar to how the public use computers. The title is probably a pull down menu and the person picked what they thought was "mr" but either the mouse wheel moved it on or they clicked the wrong one in error. Very easy error, no big deal to correct and no impact on anything or anyone.
The only time fraud would come into it is if you were using that title to obtain services or goods to some gain.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
