Are both wireless and do you have a wireless network? Is this the way that you want to connect? If so, the answer is yes - if you are using Windows then, from memory, you need to make sure that the printer is set up to allow sharing on your main PC. Then you should be able to connect to it from your netbook via your PC via a drive mapping. Hope that makes enough sense for you to have a go!

If it's not wireless you will need to d/l the drivers for it (go to the manufacturer's website)

If the printer is USB'd to the main PC (not wireless) then you will have to have the main PC switched on if you want to print from the netbook.
It would have helped if you gave the make and model of your printer.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • Judging by your performance problems post , then since they are both XP have a look at this http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/networking/maintain/printers.mspx

    Edit
: You may need to open up your Firewall(s) for File/Printer Sharing

I would try downloading the drivers for it from the internet onto your netbook and make sure that your PC is allowing the printer to be shared and also switched on as macman saidhttp://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/product?product=374584&lc=en&cc=uk&dlc=en&dlc=en&lang=en&cc=uk
