AAAArghh!
My Milly Bridal dress arrived to and it is too small, way too small!
It is beautiful, well made, and would be perfect if i could get it on. It won't go over my hips and the zip at the back is about three inches from closing.
I really don't know what to do now. It is custom made so non refundable.
Has anyone else had this happen to them??

Is it made right to the measurments you gave them? Would it fit ok if you could get it on (if you know what I mean?!) Anywhere near you that does alterations?0

I'm sure this isn't the first time they have dealt with this problem - have you emailed? What do they suggest?
Did you check the measurements of the dress with the measurements you sent them? If it is 3 inches small I would take pictures of the dress with a tape measure round it.I love surprises!0 -
Hi again
I didn't want to email them until i had a plan. I am going to check the measurements i sent against then measurements of the dress when i get home but i suspect they will be right. I think what has happened is that they have asked me for the wrong measurements for that dress type. i.e. the asked for hip measurement which was taken on the hip bone. But I am wider a few inches below the hip bone and they have not allowed for this. Since it is a fitted dress this is vital i guess. Secondly, they have asked for bust measurement, measuring around the front of the bust at its largest point with bra on. What i think they should have asked for also is the measurement around the ribcage (ie your usual bra size). I have quite a broad back in proportion to cup size and as a result the zip won't come up.
I will ask my MIL to help me to take some pics tonight and see what Milly say. I guess if worst comes to worst I can try to sell it to a smaller girl, it really is a lovely dress.0 -
I dont think all is lost. How small is it at your hips? Would 'suck it all in' pants help? They can take about an inch off.
Also, it shouldn't be too costly to have it converted to a lace up back, if you want to keep it? Around £50What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0 -
I have nothing to 'suck in' in the pants really. I am a size 8/10 and not much fat to lose.
I really wouldn't want to lose the gorgeous buttons on the back as they make the dress so thats not an option either.
All good suggestions though guys, will let you know how it goes when i measure up tonight.0 -
Ok, in that case you could look into having the seems let out. Although that does depend on the fabric and how much allowance is left in the seams.
Let us know how you get on measuring up!What matters most is how well you walk through the fire0
