pick tomato's by when?
How long can my tomato's stay on the plants and continue to ripen outside and in a greenhouse with panes of glass missing, before i need to pick them all? Should i have picked them all before the first frost?Does the frost ruin the toms ?(i know some vegs benefit from a frost). any advice please!

Frost will ruin your toms
I note frost is forecast for some areas tonight, if that is you, pick them now
They will ripen indoors on a window sill if they have started to change colourNumerus non sum0 -
if you do not have time, whack a few shetts of newspaper over the plants and if the frost is light and there is a lot of glass intact, you should be OK.
Or just take the plants out at ground level and hang them upside down indoors. If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
Pick them NOW! Especially if you live anywhere in the north of the country where frost is forecast or you will lose the lot. If panes are missing from your greenhouse and a bitter wind is blowing through it, they might just as well be out in the open. Frost will finish them off.
Get out there with a torch if necessary, and lay them on trays of newspaper on a sunny windowsill. The newspaper will help to retain a little heat when the sun in shining on them and help up the ripening process a little.0 -
