17" Samtron TFT monitor - £94.99 inc vat

Just seen a good deal on this 17" samtron tft at £94.99 inc vat. I've heard these are manufactured by Samsung and are identical to the equivalent Samsung branded 17" tft. Can anyone confirm this?

yeah Samtron monitors are made by Samsung so £94.99 is a great deal. Do you know if the warranty is 3 years or is it only 1?

Be aware its an old specification panel.. Only 500:1 contrast ratio and 12ms response rate is well below the current standards for even budget monitors. Though to be honest samsung panels often look better than their specs suggest.

Under their clearance section you can get the better specced scaleoview for £5 more ( brand new but in damaged packaging)

OK thanks for the tech advice. Would I notice a difference between 12ms and 8ms when I am using it? I notice that generally the 8ms screens are a lot more expensive. I would rather buy a new screen thats all rather than a box damaged one

You probably would not notice the difference in response rate, as 12ms is still a fast refresh ( and fast response is only really needed for avid 1st person game players).
Contrast would be more noticeable, 700:1 or 900:1 screens would show much more detail in photos than a 500:1 panel.

As i stated earlier, Samsung panels are usually better than their spec suggest anyway. When comparing in PC World, they look noticeably better than many other brands.
