I visited a poundland store in Glasgow at the weekend and was happily surprised to find TIRELIGHTS in stock for only £1 FOR A PACK OF 2. (including batteries)
These are motion activated lights that screw onto the air-valve of a wheel. Bycycle, car, motorbike trye and come in various colours Automatically flash when your wheel moves and creates a ring around your tire.
see here for example:
http://www.amazon.com/StreetGlow-ANTLRD-LED-Tire-Lights/dp/B0002I9XT4
These are available in Tesco for £8.99 and on the web (various sites) for a minimum of £10. Last xmas I bought 2 sets of these online for almost £40 for our car!!
I can't tell what the quality of these will be like but at a £1 they will make some children delighted when scooting around on their bikes especially with the dark nights coming in. :j
PLEASE NOTE THESE ARE NOT ROAD LEGAL AND SHOULD NOT REPLACE APPROPRIATE FRONT & REAR LIGHTS ON ANY BICYCLE.

same story on my bike - they got pinched - but some kids will have fun for a few days with these - however parents bear in mind it that it will make kids safer when biking at night - but also that might make them want to go out more at night to show off their new set of wheels
