Hi guys, I really hope someone can help. We spoke to cccs at start of the year in regards to our finances etc and was advised bankruptcy was best option due to me being pregnant and our outgoings. So we have been saving since approx march for the fees etc. We dont have that much spare each month to contribute to this but have been doing our best. We had managed to save for one of us and were making a start on the other when we had some problems at home. Our living room was seperated into two rooms with a false wall and the room had a tv fixed on it with bracket on wall. (was all done by previous owners tv was there's too we bought as part of house with some furnishings.) anyway we noticed that the tv had slipped and before it could fall of the wall we took it down. the bracket from the tv had pulled alot of the plaster from the false wall and it looked a mess bits were falling off all time really dusty etc. So we had to remove the wall and have the room decorated. Because of the way the false wall was put up we had to have the whole room replastered including ceiling which my cousin did for us at a discounted rate of £250 including materials. Our room is 32sq metres so pretty big. we have decorated the room with paints and wallpaper as cheaply as possible found a bargain wallpaper and used wilkinsons own cheap paint and emulsion and bought a cheap carpet which was still over £100 due t size of room (carpet was needed as when room was seprated room had carpet and dining room was laminate so was a gap in middle where wall was and different flooring.
In the last few weeks we have had to use some of this money again as our boiler backed in. we called someone out who was a friend of a friend and they looked at boiler(immersion heater) and said there was no power going to it had a look around house and found a box under stairs that was screwed shut opened it up flicked switch and it started working (looked like it had just tripped a switch) this cost us £49 in call out fees gutted. Following day the boiler was cold again, my sister spoke to her landlord as she rents privately to see if he knew a plumber who was cheaper without large call out fee. plumber came saying it was heating element and would come in a few days when he could get one. He replaced this and we were told to check this in morning to see whether boiler was hot again. no such luck. called plumber back who said it must be the full element and would come to replace again in a few days we had already paid him £60 for the heating element replacing and he said he would only charge a further £40 for replacing the full element even though it was a bigger job as boiler needed to be drained etc. When he came to replace element we found the old one was well and truly in the cylinder and he couldnt budge it. we could see how flimsy the cylinder was as its just copper. unfortunatly removing the element damaged the cylinder which he said was possible so we have to buy a new one of these total plumber cost for plumber number 2 was £240 with new cylinder element and labour. We just cant seem to get the funds for the bankruptcy anytime soon. im on maternity leave now due today so wage will decrease in 2months but will be made up with tax credits etc. we have also had baby stuff to buy nothing extravagant just essentials and bought at cheaper shops with exception of pram top for our pushchair. (had a new pram when daughter was 1 and babies cant go in it till 6months so had to buy carrycot for top which was £150) I have had 2letters come through in last 2weeks containing claim forms from courts form 2creditors I havent responded to them as I cant pay.
What happens if we cant get the funds together, will someone take us to court to get us to pay the money whcih a judge would see isnt possible, if they do can I file for bankruptcy then without the fees, (seem to remember seeing this somewhere but cant find it). I just cant see it happening now in next 12months due to mat leave and new baby arriving. Dont think we will be able to start saving again till I return to work which isnt going to be till jan2012. Going back sooner wouldnt make a difference as I would have 2lots of childcare to pay for but if I wait till jan2012 will only have 1as DD will be in nursery.
Really sorry for the long post and my grammer, baby brain and lack of sleep is my excuse.

            Hi Hun
Im sorry you are struggling to get the fees together, its such alot of money to find. Sounds like you have had one costly problem after another to contend with too!!! Im not sure how to advise you over your being taken to court query, hopefully someone will be along soon to help. But just wondered if you had seen this link, in case there is any help out there you might qualify for?
