Book club nightmare

My brother joined a book club in which part of the deal was to purchase a certain amount of books from them, he agreed to this commitment and paid for the set amoount of books.
Now they keep sending him books he did,nt order and my brother has had to send them back at his own expense (£11.70 ) Another book arrived and he refused to take it and the postman took it back.
I wrote a letter of complaint to them which they ignored.
They have sent him bills for books that he did,nt order and that he returned (he has proof of posting reciepts).
Today another book arrived by (i presume) a private courier who said he could,nt take it back.
Trying to contact this club to sort things out is just about impossible.
This is causing my brother a lot of anguish and hassle and he feels it is getting out of control.
I wondered if anyone could please offer any advice
thanks

with an invoice there should be a section to cross and post back saying no book this month please or a phone number to call0 -
Is there any way you could get Trading Standards involved. Maybe they could put a stop to it.

Assuming that he has fulfilled his agreement to buy however many books, he could just write to them (recorded delivery), saying that he does not want any more books and: either
Any more books will be considered unsolicted gifts, and are his to do with as he wishes.
or
Storage charges at his standard rateof £5 per week or part thereof will be charged on each book sent to him for "storage", and that sending any more books indicates there acceptance of his terms and conditions.
When they send the next book, either:
Sell if as an unwanted gift (best to wait a few weeks before you do this)
or
Send them a storage invoice, giving 30 days for payment.
Issue a small claims summons when they do not pay it.[size=-2] If this post was unhelpful, please tell me.

It sounds as though he is not notifying them that he does not want that month's "Editor's Choice". He has to be proactive in stopping the books, otherwise they will simply keep coming. If he has fulfilled his commitment he could simply cancel his membership. If he is not returning the form (as pointed out it would be on each months invoice/statement) then I am afraid he doesn't have a leg to stand on as the contracts for these clubs, as well as buying a certain amount, include you having to notify them that you do not want the editor's choice.
Is the bookclub one with online facilities? The one I belong to allows you to notify online that you do not want the editors choice by simply logging in and clicking through a couple of screens.0 -
They will have the next book on offer written on the last invoice. He has to actually indicate that he doesnt want it or they will send it.
They should send an invoice/order form every month wether he orders a book or not.
I believe the deal is usually if you dont order the amount of books after the original deal (something like 5 books at from 50p each) they can then invoice you the full amount for the original books.
I used to belong to BFC and that is how they work.I never had any trouble with them. I used to get books for presents for the kids and their cousins and it was usually much better value than the shops.0 -
Surprised these companies are still allowed to trade as there has been loads of bad press about them over the years. I remember my dad joined britannia music about 15 years ago, whenever it was CDs first came out, and he used to get a card in every month that had the title of the one they were going to send next. How they can expect people to want to buy a CD that they suggest is beyond me, but all you had to do was put a cross in the box and post it back.0

I joined the TSP bookclub https://www.etsp.co.uk nearly a month ago, placed an order for 3 books (introductory offer) and am still waiting for them! They were finally despatched last Thursday 10th Feb but I still yet to see any of it :P Their courier is usually Parcelnet (according to website).
Anyone else having problems with TSP or even Parcelnet?0 -
