Need some advise

Hi,
I had a car accident last October and was signed off work for 10 months

I had 2 jobs, but one of them was closing anyway, the other job was just 2 hours a day, So called my employers who said I need to get a certificate to say I'm fit for work from my doctor.

I sent off the certificate, 2 days later I get a phone call saying they don't know if I've still got my job as they had to cut 10 hours, I was never informed while I was signed off?

Can they do this?

Thanks

Not sure how you stand but my employer changed my job description while I was on sick leave, yet it was in my original contract and changes would be discussed. As you only worked 10 hours don't think there's much you can do.

  • your covered then by employment rights so you should have the right to go back to your job. What they should have done is dismissed you on capability reasons about 6 months into your time of because you were unable to do the work. As they haven't they either need to make you redundant (in a legal way) or let you return to work.
