knit knit knit!

Hi there,

I am not a very good knitter, can do baby blankets and scarves etc but would like to try a cardigan.

Have tried looking on the internet but cant seem tof ind anything as easy as i need.

I would like a garter stitch or stocking stick pattern but pref a garter stich.

as easy as you can!

Hi - have you tried ravelry? It is a fantastic resource - you can search the patterns database and specify quite a lot - even garter stitch and if the pattern is free. You can also get loads of help on the boards if you're having problems.

As you're not a knitter you're unlikely to want to look at all the other stuff on there, but do try the pattern search. The online magazine "Knitty"can be good to search through too - they have a pattern archive (all free!) and I think there is a fairly recent online mag called called Little Purls which is for children only.

Good luck - I am sure that the lady receiving it will be thrilled, and plain garter stitch cardigans for babies are much more trendy than the complex lacey ones at the moment

Funny you should mention garter stirch cardigan for babies cos i`ve bought Womens Weekly Knitting & Crochet Secial today £3.50 and it has a pattern in for a garter stitch baby cardy , might be ideal for op

I haven't checked to see of there is anything suitable though. I also second the suggestion re the Woman's Weekly Knitting and Stitching special.
