Cheap Wedding Dresses in Glasgow Area

Hi
Does anyone know where I will find a cheaper wedding dress in the Glasgow/Lanarkshire area?
I've been looking online and most of the shop dresses seem to be around the £1000 mark.
Looking for something a bit cheaper and would prefer to get this from a boutique rather than online so that I can try on first before I buy.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Lisa

Hi Lisa. Have you looked in the Berketex discount shop - its in the basement of their regular shop and is shifting ex samples and dresses from cancelled weddings. Might be worth a look.
Another thought is to look slightly outside Glasgow. I looked in Edinburgh shops and they were all around £1200 so I ended up in west lothian where the dresses were a lot cheaper because rent isn't as high. I got my dress in Broxburn and its beautiful, half the price and the experience was so much more pleasant. I can't recommend them highly enough.
I would advise you to avoid the one in bathgate though. I've heard horrible things about people not getting their dresses.
Another option is to look around for end of season sales.Eu não sou uma tartaruga. Eu sou um codigopombo.0 -
Thanks. :j
I didn't realise that Berketex had a discount shop, so will definitely give it a try. I stay in North Lanarkshire so will also try some of the shops in the Hamilton area and hopefully they'll be a bit cheaper than the city centre.0 -
Dunno if you fancy a wee hop on the train but Edinburgh's Thistledown at Haymarket(literally a 1-2 min walk from Haymarket station) was just perfect. They have a sale on so my dress was half price and i paid £337 - and I seen some unbelievable ones cheaper than that (they didnt suit me) I will need to have it altered but small price to pay.
The ladies in there are really good at working out whats best for you, we went through about 6 dresses and got to the last - and we all immediatley agreed it was the one!
No hard sell, just so nice.A wee call and they seen me the next morning!
Bertex have a bit in Debenhams in Glasgow but i was there on Wednesday afternoon and it was mega busy, not a huge lot of dresses and the sale rack wasnt up to much, the RRP dresses were over £1000Won through MSE: Iphone 3GS and 4s with Lucozade in Oct 2010

I got my dress from Thisteldown in Edinburgh - they are opposite Haymarket station and are having a huge sale - plus, if you ask, they usually knock more off the sale price and throw in extras too - I got a tiara and bolero...
I got an alfred angelo for £435 with all the above. Should have been more than £1200 I spent.... check their website http://www.edinburghbridal.co.uk/Pages/SaleDresses.html for more details - but they are closing down/moving premises, so they have loads more that isn't on the site. Beautiful dresses and cheap!!

I am getting my dress custom made by my big fat grogeous wedding. She has gorgeous dresses and they are very reasonable. If you go onto there facebook page she has loads of pics. Prices seem to start around £250.

Try Perfection Bridal on Albion Street in Glasgow. The assistant in the shop is lovely and I'm sure they have dresses to suit your budget.0

There's a place called angelique's (poss sp) next to slater's just behind the st enoch centre, she has two stores next door to each other one does brides the other bridesmaids. I have had 3 bridesmaid dresses from there and they were exceptionally cheap (in one case we managed to get 4 dresses cheaper than it would have been to get 3 of the exact same dress in another shop) and she has excellent service. Have never used the bridal section but would imagine it would be of similair value, quality and service.0
