Hi
I have going through a relationship breakdown, I currently live with my parter of 8 years in his house, I have no claims on this property he has always paid the mortgage and the house is in his name.
I have applied to my local council and housing assocations to get on their housing list or affordable housing and 1 has asked me to prove that I am not on his mortgage, How can I get this information without my partner giving me the documents?
I have a mortgage promise but this is only for 92k which will not buy me much on the open market in the area I live in
Thanks

For £4 you can download the house deeds from land registry. This will show that you are not and never have been an owner of the property and logic dictates that therefore you can't be a party to the mortgage.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages, student & coronavirus Boards, money saving boards. Obtain a Land Registry search on the property. This will show your partner as proprietor and not you.
Alternatively, if you can get a copy of a mortgage statement from him you could use that.
Google Land Registry. Searches are about £3 or so. Can be downloaded and printed there and then.I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a mortgage adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
