  • I asked Fisher Price UK the very same question and they responded saying they currently have no plans to release the iXL in the UK :(
  • I have also been asking Fisher Price UK whether if I got one shipped directly from US would it work in the UK. The bottom line is that the device and CDs have not been tested outwith US and therefore they would not commit to giving me an answer. Anyway after having a think and given a few facts like the iXL is powered by batteries and not a power lead, the iXL installation software and additional games are on CD format and that usually game CDs from US are compatible with UK computers I took the plunge and ordered the iXL from the US. It arrived yesterday and so far so good. Not had a lot of time to play but the intial iXL installation CD installed successfully on my laptop and so did one of the additional games. Didnt have time to install the other game but will presume this will work as well. Will try and sync the iXL with my computer to fully test but as I said so far so good!
Thought I would let you know so that you can decide whether to order directly from US or whether you wish to buy something else given there are no plans to release the iXL in the UK.
  • If you don't mind me asking, where did you buy the software.

The iXL is easily ordered from amazon.com with international shipping at a fairly reasonable cost, but they say they can't ship any of the software to the UK. I don't want to buy the iXL if I can't get the software from a legitimate source, and so far I can't find anywhere that will ship the software here.
  • Hi my2boys - I asked a relative who lives in USA to order the iXL and software from Amazon.com and then they shipped it to me. Why will they not ship the software? Is it a licence issue or because it has not been tested in the UK?
  • Licensing I suspect, as I can mail order the handheld directly from Amazon US. I've decided to go with the Leapster Explorer instead as I didn't want to be limited by game choice, particularly as the games are great gifts for other family members to buy.

    Thanks for your reply.
  • I bought one through ebay along with the games. There's an extra cost involved (both a premium on store price and customs) but it was delivered within 5 days so very quick. It looks fantastic. Just give yourself a few hours to set it up copying over all the data.
