Redundancy - Need Advice.

I am being made redundant and I took my employer's offer of voluntary redundancy. I have been with the firm for over 5 years
I really need some advise with regards to the fact; can an employer get rid of me a day earlier than stated - even after making it clear in an e-mail that I remain available to work till 31/10/06? What can I do to stop my employer playing these dirty tricks, and avoid paying me the loyalty bonus? What are my legal rights in a position like this? The HR people have not responded to my request for confirmation that I will be paid the bonus.
I would be extremely grateful for any help and advice.
Thank You.
- The current business account will cease to trade on 31/10/06
- My employer advised me that I am entitled to a £1500 loyalty bonus if I stay 'available' to work till the last day i.e. 31/10/06. I am available and made them aware of this fact via e-mail
- Now, I have been told that they anticipate I will not be required to work after 30/10/06 - a day earlier than my availability in order to get out of paying me the bonus!!!

If you are not in a union, I suggest you join one and ask for their advice. Sometimes even mentioning that a worker is in a union is enough to make a company think twice about what they intend to do, especially in a case like yours." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

Suggest you make an appointment with a solicitor - it is worth it. Many of them will give you an initial half hour free, and this should be easily answered. Even if it costs you a £100 for the advice it might easily save you £1500.0
